A WOMAN WITH A MISSION TO EMPOWER
Emily Hopper is a young mother, wife, artist, advocate and activist. In 2017, she was diagnosed with stage III triple negative breast cancer; only a few weeks after her 31st birthday. As she progressed through her treatment, she began to identify issues within the breast cancer community. This inspired her to create her shop - EMPOWERHAUS; as a way to use her passion (art) to shine a spotlight on those issues while empowering breast cancer patients. In addition, she has become a visible advocate in the breast cancer and flat communities, founding the Facebook support group and body positive movement, "Flatties Unite", and co-founding the 501(c)(3) nonprofit patient advocacy organization, Flat Closure NOW.
Emily has been published in Wildfire Magazine, interviewed by 'FLAT: Reclaiming My Body from Breast Cancer' author and women's health journalist, Catherine Guthrie for The Daily Beast, featured on The CanSurvivor and The Intersection of Cancer and Life podcasts, and participated as a guest speaker in Catherine's 2019 Young Survival Coalition Summit breakout session, "Breast Cancer Advocacy - Raise Your Voice". She has also been featured on numerous website and social media accounts and in 2019, collaborated with mastectomy lingerie brand, AnaOno, for the 2019 #Cancerland x AnaOno NYFW fashion show fundraiser show for METAvivor, where some of the models (all metastatic breast cancer thrivers) wore EMPOWERHAUS shirts!
